Brewing Ingredients & Process Course

This badge is awarded to individuals who have successfully completed the Cicerone Certification Program’s Brewing Ingredients and Process online course, which covers the four key ingredients of beer–malt, hops, yeast, and water–as well as the processes involved in turning those ingredients into beer. Badge-holders have demonstrated their knowledge by passing an online assessment testing their ability to: • Identify the characteristics of major beer ingredients including their sources, any processing necessary prior to their use in brewing, and the properties that they impart to wort and beer. • Name and explain the key steps in the brewing process. • Determine the flavors and other traits that can occur in finished beer as a result of variations in the brewing process. • Discuss the basic equipment found in a brewery and differentiate between common variations that exist.
