British & Irish Beer Styles Course

This badge is awarded to individuals who have successfully completed the Cicerone Certification Program’s British and Irish Beer Styles online course, which presents a comprehensive view of beer styles, brewing history, and culture found in these countries. It reviews key ingredients, important brewing processes, and the origin of flavors found in these beers. Badge-holders have demonstrated their knowledge by passing an online assessment testing their ability to: • Identify the unique ingredients and processes responsible for various flavors found in British and Irish beers. • Describe the history of brewing in Britain and Ireland from the 1700s onward, including when and how each of the major modern styles came into being. • Identify the styles of beer native to England, Ireland, and Scotland based on a description of their flavors and vital statistics (ABV, IBUs, etc.). • Identify glassware typically used for serving each style of beer. • Describe the process of serving traditional cask ale.
