Belgian Beer Styles Course

This badge is awarded to individuals who have successfully completed the Cicerone Certification Program’s Belgian Beer Styles online course, which presents a comprehensive view of beer styles, brewing history, and culture found in Belgium. It reviews key ingredients, important brewing processes, glassware used to serve beers from Belgium, and the origin of flavors found in these beers. Badge-holders have demonstrated their knowledge by passing an online assessment testing their ability to: • Identify the unique ingredients and processes responsible for various flavors found in traditional Belgian beers. • Describe the history of brewing in Belgium, including when and how each of the major modern styles came into being. • Identify 15 styles of Belgian ales based on a description of their flavors and vital statistics (ABV, IBUs, etc.). • Identify glassware typically used for serving each style of beer.
